Killing innocent people on their being Shia was equal to killing the Quaid-i-Azam and killing the Quaid-i-Azam is the same as killing Pakistan

A delegation of intellectuals called upon MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain at the International Secretariat of the party in London. The delegation asked several questions from Mr Hussain about his recent statement regarding Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Mr Hussain listened to the questions with patience.

In response to a question regarding the religious persuasion and creed of the Quaid-i-Azam, Mr Hussain said that all the students of history should note it down that it was proven from historical facts that the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam earlier belonged to Ismaili sect. But in 1898, he had submitted an affidavit in a magistrate court in Bombay in which he had deposed that his family had always been Ismaili but he and his sister Fatima were adopting the Shia Twelver sect by leaving the Ismailia sect. The complete details of this matter, along with the case number, can be found in the book “Quaid as I knew him” by Abul Hassan Ispahani, who was a close associate of the Quaid-i-Azam.

Mr Hussain said that it was also an undeniable historical fact that the Quaid-i-Azam was a member of the Khoja community and he used to give donations to the community on a regular basis. When the Quaid-i-Azam died in 1948, his body was washed by Haji Kallu Khan who also belonged to the Khoja Twelver sect. He was specially nominated by the Khoja community for giving ritual ablutions to the body of the Quaid-i-Azam.

Two separate funeral prayers were offered for the Quaid-i-Azam. The first funeral prayer was offered at his home by Maulana Aneesul Hasnain according to the Shia creed while the second funeral prayer was offered by Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani.

Mr Hussain said that the government, the defence institutions and everyone else should understand that it was evident from the historical facts that the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah belonged to the Khoja Twelver sect. Hence killing innocent people on their being Shia was, in fact, equal to killing the Quaid-i-Azam and the killing of the Quaid-i-Azam was the same as killing Pakistan.

KILLING OF SHIAS IN BALUCHISTAN AND GILGIT IS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST NATIONAL SOLIDARITY: ALTAF HUSSAIN

Targeting a particular community is equal to thrusting the country in the inferno of sectarian strife

Lomdom: 22nd August 2012

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the killing of people belonging to the Jafria school of thought in Gilgit-Baltistan and Baluchistan after verifying their identity is highly condemnable and a heinous conspiracy against national solidarity. He said that people belonging to the Hazara community in Baluchistan were being killed after being pulled off from buses because they belonged to a particular school of thought.

He said that the incidents of bloodshed were occurring in Gilgit-Baltistan as well where 25 passengers were recently put to death in a cold-blooded manner near Babusar Top after being ascertained that they belonged to the Jafria community. Likewise the incidents of targeted killings were occurring in other cities as well.

Mr Hussain said that the targeting of one particular community was highly condemnable. He said that it was a conspiracy to thrust the country in the inferno of sectarian strife and it could bring harm to national unity and solidarity. He demanded of the government to take urgent steps for stopping the occurrence of such gruesome incidents and called for arresting the brutal killers. He sympathized with the public who had been hit by the incidents of terrorism. He urged the public to defeat all conspiracies for kindling sectarian strife by their unity.
