ALTAF HUSSAIN CONDEMNS KILLINGS OF PEOPLE AT BABUSAR TOP NEAR GILGIT

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the killing of people at Babusar Top near Gilgit after being pulled out from three passenger buses by armed terrorists. He has expressed his profound grief and sorrow on the killing and injuring of several persons in the incident.

Mr Hussain said that the gunning down of innocent people belonging to a particular segment of the society in various parts of the country after ascertaining their identities was blatant terrorism and highly condemnable. The elements involved in the killings of innocent people for their vicious designs were not worthy of being called humans let alone Muslims.

Mr Hussain demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan to take serious notice of the people travelling in passenger buses near Babusar Top. He said that the perpetrators involved should be arrested and given exemplary punishment.

Mr Hussain offered condolences to the families of the people killed in the incident and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

Congratulates on getting Hilal-i-Imtiaz

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain telephoned the family members of famous ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, widely acclaimed Urdu poet Shabbir Hassan Khan Josh and Fauzia Wahab on their being conferred the Hilal-i-Imtiaz posthumously for their outstanding services in their respective fields and congratulated them.

Talking to Farrukh Jamal, grandson of Josh, Mr Hussain said that Josh was our national asset, and it was good that his services were recognized and he was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz. Farrukh Jamal thanked Mr Hussain for remember his grandfather and said that he was a true admirer of Josh.

Talking to Asif Mehdi, son of ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, Mr Hussain said that although Mehdi Hassan was no more with us physically yet his voice would always live with us.

Mr Hussain also telephoned Barrister Murtaza Wahab, son of Fauzia Wahab, and congratulated him on the conferring of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz on his mother. He said that the services of Wahab for democracy would always be remembered.
